Students for Ethical Use of Technology

Welcome. Students for Ethical Use of Technology (SEUT) is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to growing a community of high school students who care about the ethical implications of our increasing use and dependence on data and technology.

SEUT partners with leading academics, technology, and industry leaders to provide high school students with educational programming, events, and community building opportunities, so that high school students are equipped with the knowledge and support to integrate ethical principles into their tech, AI, and data education and career goals.

2026 Mid-Year Update

Where We Are Halfway Through 2026

2026 has been a busy year for SEUT. Here is a short recap of what the community has built together so far.

A record year for the scholarship. Our second annual Ethics in Technology Scholarship drew more than 900 applications from students across the country. After a multi-round review by our board, Marcus Castillo was named this year's winner, alongside twelve outstanding finalists: Deborah Joshi Samuel, Rilyn Rodgers, Xavier Perry, Evan Sidio, Navya Arora, Allizon Carrera, Alanya Jamison, Long Nguyen, Felix Lee, Gabrielle Gelber, Naval Shah, and Advait Kothuri.

The Student Founders Cohort took shape. A group of scholarship finalists and other student leaders spent the spring and summer testing SEUT's platform firsthand, planning school chapters, and telling us directly what worked and what didn't. Their feedback is reshaping how we introduce new chapters to SEUT, moving away from a single complex simulation platform and toward a simpler, more hands-on entry point built for in-person group settings.

Our curriculum grew with help from Princeton. In partnership with Professor Steven Kelts formerly of Princeton University, whose Agile Ethics framework and role-play scenarios now anchor our club curriculum, we built out the content Chapter Founders use in their first sessions together.

Looking ahead. We're continuing chapter launches through the rest of the summer, and we're planning an end-of-year showcase where students across chapters can share what they've built.
